Probe, plug or beads: which is right for you?

Choosing your first anal probe

Materials and care
Body-safe silicone is the most popular choice: it is non-porous, warms to body temperature and cleans easily with warm water and toy cleaner. Metal and hard plastic probes are firmer, completely smooth and suit temperature play. Whatever the material, use a generous amount of water-based lubricant. The anus does not self-lubricate, so lube is not optional for comfortable anal play. Avoid silicone-based lube with silicone toys, as it can degrade the surface.

Hygiene basics
Wash your probe with warm soapy water or a dedicated toy cleaner before first use and after every session. Dry it fully and store it separately from other toys so the materials do not react. Non-porous materials such as silicone, metal and glass can be sanitised and are the safest long-term choice.
